Samit Thapa is a civil engineer and academic working across water resources, climate change and energy, with over twelve years combined between engineering education and technical practice.
He is Principal and Associate Professor at Hillside College of Engineering under Purbanchal University, and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hillside College of Engineering.
His field record covers water supply and sanitation, irrigation and drainage, hydropower and renewable energy — including construction supervision on the 111 MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropower Project, feasibility studies for wind power and wastewater management, and water security and flood hazard assessment across Nepal.
The Rasuwagadhi work put him deep into tunnelling and rock engineering: excavation, support and stabilisation, rock mass characterisation, powerhouse and transformer caverns, shotcrete and rockbolt quality testing, and collapse treatment and rehabilitation.
