Profile

Amnaya Paudel is an energy and electrical/electronics engineer with over twelve years across energy planning, power-sector regulation, energy efficiency, renewable energy and technical advisory work in Nepal.

He has worked with government institutions, utilities, regulators, development partners and private-sector stakeholders on regulatory and policy analysis for Nepal's electricity sector — transmission pricing, open access, power system operation and scheduling, energy storage, captive power, and related market and grid-code matters.

His assignments include the Nepal Electricity Authority's five-year Corporate Development Plan, transmission pricing regulatory work for the Electricity Regulatory Commission, Nepal's Green Hydrogen Roadmap, and climate-resilient energy planning under the Integrated Resources and Resilience Plan. He has also managed donor-funded energy programmes, including concessional green finance for EV charging infrastructure and an ESCO-based energy-efficiency pilot.

Earlier work covers energy-demand forecasting, bottom-up techno-economic modelling with AIM/Enduse, and rooftop solar PV development, including published ADB research on energy efficiency in South Asia.
