Assignment overview
Chandra Nahar is one of Nepal's older Terai irrigation systems, and like most of them its asset register had drifted from what was actually in the ground — structures rebuilt, canals realigned, boundaries disputed.
The assignment established the command area boundary by survey and inventoried system assets into a spatial database, giving the management division a current picture of what it owns and where.
Asset inventory is unglamorous work with a direct payoff: maintenance budgeting and rehabilitation prioritisation are guesswork until it exists.
